Numbers 11:23 The Lord answered Moses, “Is the Lord’s arm too short? You will now see whether or not what I say will come true for you.”
The time when the Lord said essentially the same thing to Jeremiah is best known, (Jeremiah 32:27) but He also had to say it to Abraham. (Genesis 18:14) It is very interesting that even Biblical giants who were very close to Him had trouble believing what He told them at times. God is in the business of doing “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20) This certainly applies to things we describe as “miraculous,” but it also applies to things we tend to call “coincidences.” God certainly operates on a different time frame than we do, (2 Peter 3:8) which is hardly surprising since He is outside of time because He created it, but His plans are perfect. We can’t dictate when or how His promises will be fulfilled, but it is absolutely certain that they will be fulfilled. Our part is to be faithfully obedient, regardless of how things look to our senses.
As I read and consider this, the conviction comes to me that we will get the land next to the church after all. Humanly speaking that seems entirely impossible, given the fact that it has already been sold to a developer, but indeed nothing is impossible for God. We found out a few days ago that a development permit (necessary because the total land area is over 1500 square meters) has not yet been granted by the city; the committee meeting is next month. Whether God’s provision has anything to do with that I have no idea, but however He chooses to do it, it will be clear that it has been His doing, and He will receive the glory. My place is to be faithful in daily living, doing the things He assigns to me. We do need to get the “image plans” we have to a contractor and talk about construction blueprints, and we do need to keep praying! I have tended to be on the “practical” side, giving up, essentially, because of bureaucratic hurdles, but God is even bigger and stronger than the bureaucracy! We have not heard an audible voice telling us the land was ours and we were to build an assisted living facility on it, but the combined weight of the indicators has been very close to that. If God has said it, who am I to think it won’t happen?
Father, thank You for this Word. It rather blows me out of the water! Keep me from taking You for granted, but keep me also from thinking that what You have promised won’t be granted! Thank You for the discussion yesterday morning that helped me understand a major barrier to the Gospel in Japan. That’s a far bigger issue that the land. Help me be focused on Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that You will supply everything necessary for me to fulfill my part in Your plans, Your kingdom, for Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!
